The Days of Grays~~~ <3

I've been counting down to this album like only a fangirl can. And at the risk of sounding like one, Sonata Arctica's "The Days of Grays" is awesome.

Deathaura is 8 minutes of movie soundtrack-esque insanity.
The Last Amazing Grays is one surprise after another, building up to an epic finish.
Flag In The Ground recalls the band's old speed metal days, complete with the obligatory addictive chorus.
Zeroes... you either love it or hate it. Reminiscent of a few tracks from Unia.
Juliet falls in line with Deathaura, twinkling keyboards and all.
Johanna Kurkela impresses with lovely vocals on No Dream Can Heal A Broken Heart, and I would go so far as to call it the best song on the album. It's that good.
Everything Fades To Gray has a long intro, but towards the end, it just blows you away.

I really like this album. It's strange, it's crazy, it's even more epic than I had hoped it'd be. I kind of miss the guitar work of previous albums like Winterheart's Guild and Silence, but it's not such a great loss. Now whether or not this album can claim the top spot from my personal favorite (Reckoning Night) is simply a matter of time.

Ack, late comment. Yeah, I agree. I either like a song when I hear it, hate it, or kinda like it. Strangely enough, the songs that I "kinda like" at first are the ones that I like the most and for the longest time later on.
oh and btw, you kick ass with those new sprites :]

Mm-hmm. The "kinda like" ones don't get a lot of play time, so when I haven't heard one in a while it's like "Ooh, this is actually good."
And the most-played ones eventually get phased out. It's like a cycle. When I go back to listen to those ones it starts over again. xD
